Affordable style
Laminate floors come in a large variety of styles and colors. With better graphics, embossing and micro beveling, they have all the characteristics of the real thing, including depth, dimension, knots, grains, swirls, textures, etc.
You won’t pay nearly the same price, though, as you would for genuine hardwood.
Embossing allows the manufacturers to create textured looks that include wire-brushed, hand-scraped, distressed, and embossed-in-register (EIR).
Durability to handle kids, pets, and heavy foot traffic
This flooring stands up to heavy wear and tear, and there’s now even a waterproof laminate flooring version. That makes it especially great for areas like the hallway, which are especially prone to erosion, ice, and mud like the hallway.
A super-strong top layer offers resistance to scratches, stains, fading, and dents. Check your warranty, as many manufacturers also offer extra protection.
Easy installation
Laminate flooring is installed via the floating floor. Pieces click to mat and hover over the subfloor without nails or glue. It’s fast, easy, and less expensive for you.
A helpful hint:
Laminate flooring comes in various surface thicknesses, but buy the best your wallet will allow. The best laminate flooring should be 8 mm to 12 mm thick.
A thicker surface lasts longer, is quieter, and offers more design options–it’s easier to carve on a thicker, rather than thinner, surface.
